PSG announce the signing of Renato Sanches

Paris Saint-Germain have announced the signing of Renato Sanches from Lille.

The Portuguese midfielder, who’s contract expired in 2023, has joined the French giants on a five-year contract for a reported fee of 15 million euros.

After making a name for himself as a youngster with Benfica, Sanches joined Bayern Munich for 35 million euros in 2016.

However, after failing to shine in 53 appearances for the Bavarian side, Sanches was loaned out to Swansea City, before moving and rediscovering his form at Lille.

PSG beat AC Milan to his signature, and will feature alongside Vitinha, Marco Verratti and Danilo Pereira in the French midfield.

This will be Sanches‘ second spell with Christophe Galtier after the two previously worked at Lille.

The French coach and Luis Campos were a big reason why the Portuguese midfielder chose PSG over the Italian side.

“I’m sure that I’ve made the right choice by signing for the club,” Sanches told the PSG website.

“I chose Paris Saint-Germain because I think that it’s the best project for me.

“Staying in France was important to me, as I know this league already.”
