Boxing: Bernard Hopkins: Canelo Alvarez will give Golovkin a beating

Bernard Hopkins, a former American boxer known for his 10-year reign as world middleweight champion, spoke out about what could happen in the highly anticipated fight between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin on September 17 in Las Vegas.

Hopkins has no doubts about what will happen in the ring.

“It’s going to be interesting to see two guys who are a few years older and not as young as they used to be,” he told Little Giant Boxing.

“I think there’s going to be more punching from both sides. I’m picking Canelo by knockout in the sixth or seventh round.

“I don’t see this being as exciting a fight as the first two. I’m predicting Canelo will find his way and then get stopped in the sixth or seventh round.”

Hopkins dares to say that Canelo will ‘crush’ his opponent with force.

“It looks like it’s going to be a beating. I think it will be a liver punch, and that will happen in the first four rounds,” he said.

“Canelo is a good body shot guy that wears you down, and then [Golovkin’s] head will be exposed to do whatever he wants to do.”

It would be the best news for Canelo, who needs a win like that to forget what happened against Bivol.
