Jimmy Garoppolo left his heart in SF: No matter what happens, he’ll remain 49ers’ starting QB

Last January 30 of this year, when Aaron Donald forced quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to throw a desperation pass that ended up being intercepted by Travin Howard for the Los Angeles Rams to secure their ticket to Super Bowl LVI, all NFL experts assured that that had been Jimmy G’s last pass with the San Francisco 49ers.

The 49ers, at that time were eliminated in the NFC Championship Game, however, the Bay Area team had taken Trey Lance third overall in the 2021 Draft from North Dakota State, so the plan of this franchise was that for this season it would be the second-year player who would take the reins of the offense.

The 49ers saved themselves by not trading Jimmy Garoppolo

The 49ers’ plan was to trade Garoppolo in the offseason, it was thought in March that he would be traded soon, however, the quarterback had to undergo shoulder surgery that made other teams doubt about getting him.

Thus passed the Draft and then came training camp in which Garoppolo, who already knew he would not be a starter, did not participate with permission from the 49ers to seek a trade, however, after failing to find a deal, he ended up accepting a new contract that lowered his salary but made him the highest paid backup in history.

Jimmy G’s fate remains in San Francisco

When Dak Prescott was injured last week it was also rumored that Jimmy Garoppolo would be traded to the Dallas Cowboys, that didn’t happen and after that came this Sunday’s game in which Lance has fractured his ankle and will miss the rest of the season.

Believe it or not, Jimmy G has it in his destiny to remain the 49ers starting QB for the rest of 2022, when he agreed to his new contract as a backup passer, Lance was upset, according to reports, he surely sensed something.
