The British public have only just managed to get their heads around the death of queen Elizabeth II, yet further change is coming to the country with the imminent coronation of king Charles III, although an ex-employee has revealed that Camilla Parker Bowles will be the real power in the UK.
King Charles III has endured a tumultuous life in terms of his relationships, with his first marriage to Diana Spencer breaking down in disaster.
Upon Diana‘s death, Charles remained single for many years until finally he rekindled his long love-affair with Camilla in the mid-2000s.
In her new official title as queen consort, Camilla will be a regular presence alongside her husband, although the suggestion is that she holds an awful lot of influence over the new King.
“She’s the real boss,” explained Julian Payne, former communications secretary to Charles III, in an interview with The Times.
“I was told that I wouldn’t be hired unless it had her approval.
“She respects the role and the institution completely, she keeps her feet on the ground.”
Payne made clear that whilst both Charles and Camilla knew that they would one day ascend to the throne, it wasn’t a position they actively sought and looked forward to.
“They just felt that if it was meant to be, it would happen,” he continued.
“It was never a role that they actively fought for.
“Their marriage deserves the respect and affection of the nation.”
