Queen Elizabeth II was heartbroken and exhausted
Queen Elizabeth II allowed her grandson, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle to exit the Royal Family but didn’t allow them to leave and continue to receive the benefits that come with being a royal member.
In “The New Royals” book by Katie Nicholl a souce close to the late queen says the monarch confided to her that she was exhausted by the decision, with Queen Elizabeth II expressing that she was very hurt and that she didn’t care anymore, as she just wanted to stop thinking about it.
They say the source of her sadness came that she wasn’t able to see her great-granchildren Archie and Lilibet.
With one of the main reasons for the relationship to sour being when Harry and Meghan didn’t attend the Balmoral for the annual sleepover that Queen Elizabeth II used to held for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The book also talks about their rift with King Charles III
When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle exited the Royal Family, King Charles III and Queen consort Camilla also had some awkward encounters with them, even with Harry suggesting that a mediator was used to try and make things smoother.
This comes as Harry and Meghan have departed London after attending the funeral services for her late majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and are now with their children in Los Angeles.
