Aaron Rodgers talks ayahuasca and says it isn’t a drug, acknowledging he might take it again

For a third consecutive season, Green Bay Packers quarterback, Aaron Rodgers is making a weekly appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” to talk about a wide range of topics, including his team’s play during the past weekend and a preview for the upcoming game.

Aaron Rodgers said ayahuasca is a plant and not a drug

During this offseason, Aaron Rodgers acknowledged that he has used ayahuasca in the past and the internet went crazy over the fact, with the NFL even having to clarify that the player wasn’t violating their substance abuse policy.

Ayahuasca is a liquid psychedelic that has dimethyltryptamine, commonly known as DMT, which causes a person to hallucinate, ansd while it’s illegal in the United States, it can be found and taken in several countries in South America, like Peru, where Rodgers took it for the first time during the 2020 season.

Rodgers added that this comes from a plant and just as marijuana, it shouldn’t be considered a drug.

Rodgers doesn’t want ayahuasca to have a bad reputation

Aaron Rodgers also talked about the TD celebration started by his teammate Allen Lazard during their Sunday Night Football game against the Chicago Bears.

In the celebration, Lazard uses the football to simulate pouring cups of the drink for his teammates, with almost all of them dropping down to the floor as soon as they did the drinking mimic, all except for Rodgers who just shook his body.

The quarterback would say that he doesn’t want to send the wrong message about ayahuasca to the public, as he said that taking it is not an immediate pass out to oblivion.

“You’re not standing up drinking, having this Jesus revival, slaying in the spirit. It’s not like that”, he told The Pat McAfee Show.
