LeBron James vs. Kevin Durant is now a vintage clash that fans will miss again

The Brooklyn Nets (6-7) visit the Los Angeles Lakers (2-10) on Sunday at Crypto.com Arena, but fans will seemingly once again miss a LeBron James vs. Kevin Durant showdown.

James, 37, is day-to-day with a leg muscle strain and likely to miss Sunday’s match against Durant and company.

Durant, 34, opened up about what it’s like playing against King James despite not facing him since the 2018 NBA finals while playing with the Golden State Warriors.

“It’s always an incredible time for the NBA when we get together and hoop against each other,” Durant said. “We played on different teams, different matchups, it’s always fun playing against Bron.

KD joked about not being upset that James is doubtful to play against them because he always has to guard the four-time NBA champion.

“We need wins. I want him to play for sure, but when he’s not out there the game is definitely easier,” Durant said. “I wish him the best with the injury, but not having him out there on the floor is less of a headache.”

LeBron James vs. Kevin Durant is a throwback now

Last year, on Christmas Day, Brooklyn defeated the Purple & Gold despite not having Durant or Kyrie Irving on the floor.

This time, the Lakers will look to flip the script, but it won’t be an easy task.

Nets have seven straight wins at Crypto.com Arena, most recently beating the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday.

Irving, 30, is not with the team due to a five-game suspension and Ben Simmons has been relegated to a bench role.

Ever since Steve Nash was fired as head coach, Durant has risen to the occasion, with the team winning four of its last five contests.
