Los Blancos general director Jose Angel Sanchez was also named best CEO, with Real Madrid scouting director Jose Angel Sanchez receiving the best scout of the year prize.

The French star, Real Madrid‘s president and Ancelotti were unable to travel to Dubai but sent a video to express their gratitude for the awards.

Ancelotti stressed that last campaign “was an unforgettable, fantastic season, in which we showed that this club never gives up and we deserved to win our 14th”.

Alexia Putellas wins again, taking the Women’s Player of the Year prize

It was a special night for Alexia Putellas as she also followed up her Ballon d’Or by taking the Women’s Player of the Year prize, with the Barcelona midfielder beating England’s Beth Mead and Colombia’s Linda Caicedo.

She didn’t attend the gala, but neither she nor Barcelona sent in a video either.

Meanwhile, Lyon won the title for best women’s club of the year, which the Blaugrana had won in the last edition.

Mohamed Salah was the fans’ pick

Meanwhile, Napoli striker Victor Osimhen snatched the Emerging Player of the Year award from Fede Valverde.

Then, the TikTok trophy for the best player of the year chosen exclusively by the fans went to Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

The legendary Paolo Maldini, along with Ricardo Massara, won the award for best sporting director of the year for their work with Serie A champions AC Milan.

Speaking of legends, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Romario and Wayne Rooney were recognized for their successful careers over the years.

Meanwhile, Adriano Galliani, Unai Emery and Rene Ramos were also honored for their careers as director, coach and agent, respectively.

In the agents category, the award went to Jorge Mendes and the best transfer to Rafaela Pimienta, the successor of the late Mino Raiola.

As for the five new digital categories, the awards went to Fabrizio Romano (best football journalist), Tuga810 (best football player in esports), Khaby Lame (best football influencer), Alnoufali_7 (best football content creator on TikTok) and Zabaliver (best football content creator on YouTube).

Sergio Ramos is named the best defender in history

Sergio Ramos also enjoyed his evening, as he was voted the best defender of all time at this Globe Soccer Awards gala.

The PSG defender also participated in an interesting debate alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic as part of the 17th International Sports Conference, which in the morning had been attended by Unai Emery, Rui Costa, Fabio Capello, Julian Ward and others.

In his talk, Ramos spoke about a number of different topics, such as his career, his leadership, the future and the World Cup.

“I have a few more years of football left, as my legacy is not yet finished,” he stated, before expressing his support for Spain at the World Cup.

Spain can do a great job despite having a young team.

“Because of the situation in which the World Cup will be played, there could be a surprise.

“My best memory is the World Cup was in South Africa. Hopefully Spain can repeat that in Qatar.”

The centre-back also shared his insight in terms of leadership.

“Leadership is important, it’s something you carry with you and with time it becomes stronger,” he said.

“Having a reference point on the pitch is necessary, the leader must lead by example, not just by talking.

“Football has become more equal on a physical level and that is good, that there are not so many differences between big and small players.”
