Austin FC has signed goalkeeper Brad Stuver to a new contract, keeping him at the club through the 2025 Major League Soccer season with an additional option for 2026.
Stuver joined the expansion side ahead of their 2021 MLS debut, arriving via free agency after previous stints with New York City FC and the Columbus Crew. The 31-year-old now stands as one of Major League Soccer’s most experienced goalkeepers, helping Austin reach the Western Conference Final in the 2022 MLS Cup Playoffs.
“Brad is an amazing asset to this team and community, and we are happy to have him with us for the next several years,“ sporting director Claudio Reyna said.
Before arriving at Austin, Stuver played in nine league games across the 2013 to 2020 campaigns. He’s drastically improved n the past two seasons, managing 13 clean sheets in 64 games and stopping three of 10 penalty kicks against him. He tied for eighth in the league for total saves in 2022, and second in the league for most successful clearances with 33.
“From the moment I stepped foot in Austin, I felt right at home with the team, community, and fans and I am looking forward to continuing my journey here,” said Stuver. “I’m excited to come back next year and keep making history with my team and this city.
