Cristiano Ronaldo broke the deadlock from the spot in Portugal’s 3-2 victory over Ghana on Thursday and, with this goal, he became the first player to find the back of the net in five different World Cups.
After his team’s win, Ronaldo expressed his joy about the fact that he managed to break yet another record at the age of 37.
“Scoring for the fifth consecutive World Cup is a source of great pride,” Ronaldo said after the game.
“It’s a beautiful moment, it’s my fifth World Cup.
“We won, it’s a very important victory.
“We know that in these competitions starting with a victory is fundamental.”
